Summary of Approved Constitution Changes:
- Grammatical edits
- “College” changed to “University”
- Only 5 members are required for a club (was 7 members)
- Executive Board candidates need one semester of SGA experience (was one year)
- Executive Board members cannot be on another club’s executive board except if the SGA votes on it with a 2/3 majority
- SGA President must give 24-hours in order to call an emergency meeting (was 12-hours)
- President can appoint another person to full roll on the Vermont State Colleges Student Association if they cannot
- President shall meet with the Dean of Students and University President monthly
- President shall serve as Chair on Board of Elections, if not seeking reelection
- Executive Vice-President will count ballots with Advisor’s supervision
- Executive Vice-President will regularly communicate with CAB, FAIR, and Arts and Lecture Committees
- Financial Controller will present balance at every meeting
- Financial Controller will meet with Controller of the University twice per semester
- Financial Controller will update budgets at least once a month
- Financial Controller will hold financial workshops each semester
- Executive Cabinet shall serve as Board of Elections overseen by SGA President
- Elected Representatives decreased from 5 to 3 for each Class Representatives and Commuter Representatives and 3 to 2 Non-traditional Representatives to reflect changes in enrollment
- SGA Alternate Representatives shall be a current member of a club’s executive board
- Elected Representatives, when available, will attend NVU Student Leadership Conference
- Elected Representatives will hold three town halls a semester
- Elected Representatives are members of the Financial Committee
- If changes need to be made to a club constitution, it must be presented to the Administrative Vice President, 5 school days before the SGA meeting they are presenting at.
- Administrative Vice President must distribute a new Constitution 72 hours before the meeting
- One general board member needs to be elected to serve on VSCSA
- Executive Board petitions decrease from 150 to 100 signatures to reflect enrollment changes
- For an absence to be excused, it must be submitted to the SGA e-mail 24 hours before the meeting and approved by 3/4ths of the Executive Board
- Refunds are not given to individuals who make club purchases
- Alcohol shall not be permitted at any SGA club-sanctioned event without prior approval
- Participants in conferences that are SGA funded must participate fully in the entirety of the conference
- Description of the 10% Committee is now included
- Anyone wishing to be added to the SGA General Board Meeting Agenda must notify the Administrative Vice-President 5 school days prior to the meeting and if there are any discrepancies regarding the request, the party will have 48 hours to make necessary changes to still make it on the agenda.
